EL1 WHS, Wellbeing and Capability
Lead WHS, wellbeing & capability functions for a newly established APS agency; shaping frameworks, building capability and supporting a safe workplace
- Opportunity for up to 18 months
- s26 transfer or non-ongoing (no labour-hire)
- Must have existing EL1 experience
We are seeking an experienced EL1 to join a newly established Commonwealth regulatory agency.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the foundations of a new organisation, establishing contemporary approaches to WHS, injury management, wellbeing, learning and capability.
Working within a small and agile team, you will lead the development of fit-for-purpose frameworks, governance arrangements and services while providing strategic and operational advice on complex and sensitive people matters.
This is a 12–18 month temporary transfer at level, with the position available in all capital cities, with a preference for Canberra.
The role is best suited to someone who enjoys working in environments where there is an opportunity to build, improve and establish new ways of working, rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
Duties
- Lead the development and delivery of WHS, wellbeing and capability functions across the organisation.
- Provide strategic and operational advice on complex WHS, injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-work matters.
- Develop and implement frameworks, policies, governance arrangements and systems to support WHS and wellbeing outcomes.
- Drive approaches to psychosocial safety, workplace adjustments and employee wellbeing.
- Lead learning, development and capability initiatives to build organisational and manager capability.
- Partner with leaders and managers to identify workforce risks and deliver practical solutions.
- Support legislative compliance and continuous improvement across WHS and people-related functions.
- Contribute to the broader development of the People and Capability function within a new organisation.
- Current substantive EL1 experience within the APS, ideally in a HR, WHS, people and capability or related function.
- Strong experience across WHS, injury management, rehabilitation and/or wellbeing, with the ability to provide advice on complex matters.
- Experience developing and implementing frameworks, policies, systems or services in a developing or changing environment.
- Knowledge of psychosocial safety, workplace adjustments and contemporary wellbeing practices.
- Experience in learning, capability development and/or organisational capability uplift.
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation, governance and compliance requirements.
