EL1 Rehabilitation Manager
Lead a national APS rehabilitation function, managing complex cases, risk, compliance and return-to-work outcomes across Australia.
- Australian citizenship mandatory and baseline security clearance preferred

A central APS agency delivering essential technical services that support the Australian community, businesses and government agencies. The agency has offices across Australia and can consider candidates from most locations, with Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane preferred.
The Role
The EL1 Rehabilitation Manager role will lead the agency’s compensation and rehabilitation team, overseeing the delivery of rehabilitation case management for compensable and non-compensable matters.
The role will provide leadership across injury management, return to work, early intervention and complex rehabilitation cases. You will also provide strategic insights into rehabilitation trends across the agency, support compliance with relevant legislation, and help minimise organisational risk.
This is a vacant ongoing role and may be filled via an ongoing Section 26 transfer or a non-ongoing engagement, depending on candidate suitability and availability.
Duties Some of your duties may include
- Lead and manage the compensation and rehabilitation team, including mentoring rehabilitation professionals.
- Oversee complex and escalated rehabilitation case management matters, including compensable and non-compensable cases.
- Provide advice on the interpretation and application of the SRC Act and other relevant legislation.
- Identify trends, risks and emerging issues across rehabilitation, injury management and return-to-work matters.
- Prepare complex briefings, submissions and advice for senior stakeholders.
- Support early intervention strategies and return-to-work outcomes across the agency.
- Ensure rehabilitation practices are compliant, consistent and aligned to APS requirements.
- Strong experience leading rehabilitation case management functions within an APS or government environment.
- Demonstrated experience applying and interpreting the SRC Act and related rehabilitation legislation.
- Experience managing complex and escalated rehabilitation cases, including compensable and non-compensable matters.
- The ability to lead, mentor and support rehabilitation professionals.
- Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing briefings, submissions and advice.
