APS6 Strategic Communications Officer

  • 12 month non-ongoing OR labour-hire engagement
  • South Canberra location + hybrid working
  • Must have APS experience + current clearance
The Role
We have a 12 month opportunity available for an experienced, high-performing APS6 to join a dedicated, long-term and well supported communications team.

You will support the development and delivery of strategic communication activities for a range of policies, programs and government initiatives.

This is a generalist communication role suited to someone who can work across strategy, stakeholder engagement, content development, digital communication and project delivery. You will partner with internal policy and program areas, providing practical communication advice and coordinating projects from planning through to evaluation.

This role will be offered for 12 months in either a labour-hire or non-ongoing arrangement, or a temporary s26 transfer.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and implementing communication plans and strategies.
  • Providing communication advice to internal policy and program teams.
  • Producing content for web, social media, stakeholder and public-facing channels.
  • Coordinating communication products, approvals and project timelines.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Supporting communication research, evaluation and reporting.
To be considered for this position, you will need:
  • A current Baseline security clearance or higher.
  • Long-term experience in an APS6 position in the federal government
  • Demonstrated experience delivering strategic communication projects.
  • Strong generalist communication skills across digital, written and stakeholder channels.
  • Experience developing communication plans, content and supporting materials.
