Coordinate a high-profile international event - end-to-end logistics, stakeholder engagement and on-the-ground delivery in a fast-paced APS team.

  • 8 month contract, commencing June 2026

The Agency:
This small APS agency plays a key role in delivering technical and scientific services that support government, industry and the broader Australian community. The team works closely with both domestic and international stakeholders on large-scale initiatives.

The Role:
This APS5 Events Officer role will support the delivery of a major international plenary event scheduled for late 2026. You will be responsible for coordinating logistics, stakeholder engagement and administrative support to ensure seamless event delivery.

This is an approximately 8-month contract (June 2026 – January 2027), based in Canberra with some flexibility for remote work. In-person attendance will be required for key milestones and event delivery.

Duties:
  • Coordinate end-to-end logistics for a large international event
  • Manage event materials including registrations, delegate packs and communications
  • Prepare runsheets and act as key liaison for venue and AV requirements
  • Oversee on-the-day operations including registration desk and issue resolution
  • Coordinate catering, hospitality and event setup
  • Provide secretariat support including agendas, minutes and stakeholder coordination
  • Liaise with domestic and international stakeholders and suppliers
  • Prepare reports, briefings and post-event lessons learned documentation
Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in event coordination or logistics for complex projects
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • High-level written skills, including briefs and correspondence
  • Experience supporting large-scale events in the APS or a government setting will be highly regarded
