The Department:
This agency plays a vital role in supporting democratic processes, ensuring public awareness, and educating communities on key civic duties. Through strategic campaigns, they communicate critical information to diverse audiences. Their work is heavily underpinned by integrity and provides clear guidance to the public on their rights and responsibilities.
  
  
The Role:
As the Assistant Director of Communications (EL1), you will lead a small team responsible for executing strategic communication and advertising campaigns.
  
You will work closely with internal teams to manage external communications, public relations, and media services. This role involves planning and implementing communication strategies to support key national events.
  
This opportunity is available via a permanent transfer and therefore applicants are required to be substantively at the EL1 level when applying. If you are a substantive APS6 with significant EL1 acting experience, please reach out to discuss.
  
Role Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic communication activities, including campaigns.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders and service providers.
  • Oversee communication strategies for diverse audiences across multiple channels.
  • Provide communication advice and guidance to senior leadership.
  • Lead and develop team capabilities for high-quality output.
  
Your Skills and Experience:
  • Strong knowledge and experience in strategic communications and/or campaigns
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on team development.
  • Knowledge of government communication frameworks and campaign development
