The Organisation:
Centrally located federal government department.

The Role:
This is a 9 to 12 months labour hire contract available at either the APS6 or EL1 level. This organisation is looking for a Program Finance Officer that can play a leading role in the delivery of one of their largest programs.

The primary focus of the role will be assessing the financial viability of providers through the analysis of their financial statements and other information provided as a part of their application process for program funding.

You’ll also need to contribute to the drive and delivery of the program through:
  • Compliance reporting
  • Milestone reporting
  • Policy analysis, advice and briefings
It’s a really interesting role that should appeal to a financial professional looking to move into program management. Or someone that has an accounting background and wants diversity in their work. Or perhaps you’ve worked in program management for many years and you’re on the hunt for your next professional home.

The role is covering someone on extended leave and there are no plans to fill the position permanently at this stage.

Your Skills and Experience:
You need to be an Australian Citizen and hold a current baseline clearance. You need to have demonstrated your capability at the APS6/EL1 level in roles where you have developed financial accounting skills, and financial analysis. You’ll need to articulate how these skills can translate into delivering financial viability assessments. An audit background can be a good match for this but is not crucial.

From a program management perspective, you’ll need to demonstrate experience of:

- The ability to analyse policy and prepare associated briefs
- Administering compliance programs
- Providing policy advice to internal/external stakeholders.
- Leading program and project delivery
