We are working with a larger federal government client looking for APS5 finance business partners.
The Roles:
Finance business partnering (FBP) has been a consistent growth area within CFO units in recent years. Originally part of an internal budgets area, in larger agencies finance business partnering teams have been stood up as their own finance function. They are the bridge between finance and the business lines.
The role is a mix of budget management, and the preparation of the EOM (end of month) reports. You will liaise with the financial reporting team concerning the EOM actuals. As well as delivering updated budgetary information to the internal budgets team.
The key component of your role will be working with non-financial business line leaders, providing insightful dashboard and management reports, and associated advice of budget management.
The APS5 roles in these teams are developmental positions. Working under the guidance of APS6, EL1 and EL2s, you will learn the craft of business partnering. They are ideally suited to people with financial operations and EOM experience, an inquisitive nature, good communication skills and a willingness to learn. We have placed a number of people from operational roles, or with limited technical experience, into APS5 FBP roles, and their careers have grown from there.
We have permanent S26 transfers and 12 months non-ongoing opportunities available.
Your Skills and Experience:
You must be baseline cleared (and therefore an Australian Citizen) and have worked within a finance role from the federal government at the APS5 level. Great communication skills are a must, and experience with Excel and a large FMIS (SAP or TechOne) would make you a suitable candidate. A degree in finance is preferred but not mandatory.
